Ricardo Soares, Al Ahly’s football first team head coach, spoke following the team’s goalless draw against Ismaily SC in a postponed match from the 18th fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.

Here is what Soares had to say on the game: 

“We didn’t have a good first half. We were not attacking in the best way possible. However, we were solid defensively.

The second half was different. We talked with our players at half-time and we were much better in the second half. We kept our defensive shape and improved in attack.

I want to thank our youngsters for their efforts. I’m very proud of them. We know it’s very hard for them to play altogether without having the support of the senior players. 

The most important thing for me is the future of Al Ahly. Throughout the past period we identified our weaknesses and are now looking to fix those weaknesses in order to enter the new season in the best shape and form.”
